Where does the time go, I have been promising myself I would keep this blog going at least once a week, but it’s been nearly four, but ’stuff’ gets in the way, now let me re-cap, ah yes, had a birthday party bash with my dancing friends, did I mention I belong to a dance class? probably not, I’m not all that good at it, but we do have some good nights out, must sort out some pics. Also been doing some painting, I eventually finished the super handsome GSD, Logan, plus a painting of a Shiba Inu called Gypsy, this one was done on a stone, She unfortuantely died in October, and is very sadly missed I’ll attach the pic of her, she’s called Gypsy, also a Golden Retriever called Bailey.

You have to right clik on the beech tree, as it won’t show.
Haven’t blogged for a week or so, not a lot going on, Went to a dog show Sat 20th I was judging so had a 3.30am rise to get to W Sussex for 7.30, it was dark and cold and I thought I was off my trolley. got home at 7.30pm, someone’s gotta do it or there will be no shows.
This weather is still holding, though it’s getting chillier, managing to get more gardening done, BUT! I discovered I had a RAT it was holed up under a large beech tree root that came down in the spring, see picture, the ‘tree surgeons’ made such a mess of cutting it up and sawing it about, plus the fence had to be renewed and the porch of the house over the fence, when it came to the stump I said leave it, I’ll make a feature of it, well, Mr Ratty thought it was a nice cosy wee home, as it was quite hollow underneath, Called in the pest control, he came and put the blue grains of death down, and I’m sure it’s done the trick, I just hope the resident hedgehog hasn’t sampled it.
Time to cover the patio set, though we have had a couple of pleasant days, I could have sat out, but too late, table and chairs are all wrapped up.
taking several cuttings of chrysants from a couple of plants I bought back along, they have taken and how, they are even flowering, took some to my friend with whom we have plant swops, put the lupins that I grew from seed into cardboard boxes ready to go into the little plastic greenhouse.
Went to another show last week, 4 am rise, home at 8 pm, this Saturday it was bliss to lie in till 7 am.
Haven’t seen Mr Ratty, so hope the b******r has snuffed it., but I’ll keep watching.
The weather has been holding beautifully, had two lovely days on the beach with the dogs, the water was calm as a mill pond. Last spring it was quite wild and I did worry a bit about the dogs, have a look at the picture of them in the water, Tango is almost swallowed up by a wave.
Had a bluebottle indoors, horrible things, time they were all dead, Can anyone tell me why is it that the minute you pick up the fly spray, they disappear? I’m sure they’ve got a wierd sort of unnatural intelligence.
Busy in the garden
October 14, 2007
harebells2.JPGHi there,
A beautiful day to-day, jacket came off on dog walk, and this is mid October, carry on like this and we’ll meet summer after Christmas!.
After lunch I decided I would do some tyding up in the garden, too nice to sit and paint, also I wanted to cover up the pario set, as I can’t see sitting out much longer with tea in the garden, rain forecast to-morrow.
Dead headed and tidied up lots of plants. I’d taken some cuttings of Chrysanthemums last month, and many have taken and are even in flower, the lupin seeds I’d sown back in the spring are also coming on well, and are fine big plants in individual pots.
I cut back the gernaiums and hope to take some cuttings.
I had one solitary sunflower that had self seeded in the lawn, I had been carefully mowing round it for some time, but damn these clumsy dogs were having a hooly and broke it.
The Rudbeckia is beginning to look a bit burnt round the edges so lots of them have been given the chop, I hate cutting flowers down. The Fuschias are still doing well, and a solitary bee was having a drink at one, A lovely Peacock butterfly was feeding on the last of the Budddliea, and typically no camera handy, though I did get a picture of a red damselfly this morning, I’ll upload it when I take it off the camera.
I photographed a couple of wild flowers this morning, nothing special, some mallow, teazel, berries and a lovely dandelion, YES a dandelion, stinky but beautiful.
Talking of wild flowers, I bought a packet in the spring and sowed them in a nice sunny spot in the garden, what a diswappointment, one Cosmo, which does look quite impressive, but nothing else, what a swizz, shan’t be buying them again.
I’m going to have a go at taking cuttings of a rather nice Fuschia that I have. also a lovley deep yellow rose, but I hate these thorns, they’re evil.
Next year I’m planting lots of dahlias.
Goodnight
New Painting

logan-to-paintbrighter.jpgYesterday I did the background for my new painting, it is of a handsome German Shepherd dog called Logan,It’s another charity painting to help fill the coffers of our group of people in dog doings, If any members get into financial difficulties such as being unable to pay a vet bill we will help toward it.
So as he is quite a red hued dog, I decided on a vey pale green background, I was sent a variety of posesw and we’ve decided on the best, and I’ll attach a copy. I hope to make a proper start to-morrow, I’m also working on one for myself, with my two dogs lying by a post. I shall put them on my website when finished www.colliepaintings.com
I just had a phone call telling me that an old friend has just died unexpectedly from a massive heart attack, that’s the second who has died this month. I’ll close for now.
Dog days
October 14, 2007
Yesterday 13th Oct thought I’d take the dogs to the cliff top for a nice long walk, about 2.5 hours, thought I’d let them go for a swim, but although the weather was calm and a bit of a slight smirr, the waves were breaking quite hard on to the pebble beach, I was a bit concerned when the dogs took off to race down the cliff to the water, I could hear the waves pounding the beach, but they were OK but I’m not that fond of heavy water.
The ships were sounding the fog horns, it sounds quite mournful, It takes me back to when I was a child, and I’d lie in bed at night hearing the ships fonding the fog horns on the Clyde.
After lunch I shut myself and dogs in the summerhouse to do some painting.
