Catching up

You have to right clik on the beech tree, as it won’t show.
Haven’t blogged for a week or so, not a lot going on, Went to a dog show Sat 20th I was judging so had a 3.30am rise to get to W Sussex for 7.30, it was dark and cold and I thought I was off my trolley. got home at 7.30pm, someone’s gotta do it or there will be no shows.
This weather is still holding, though it’s getting chillier, managing to get more gardening done, BUT! I discovered I had a RAT it was holed up under a large beech tree root that came down in the spring, see picture, the ‘tree surgeons’ made such a mess of cutting it up and sawing it about, plus the fence had to be renewed and the porch of the house over the fence, when it came to the stump I said leave it, I’ll make a feature of it, well, Mr Ratty thought it was a nice cosy wee home, as it was quite hollow underneath, Called in the pest control, he came and put the blue grains of death down, and I’m sure it’s done the trick, I just hope the resident hedgehog hasn’t sampled it.
Time to cover the patio set, though we have had a couple of pleasant days, I could have sat out, but too late, table and chairs are all wrapped up.
taking several cuttings of chrysants from a couple of plants I bought back along, they have taken and how, they are even flowering, took some to my friend with whom we have plant swops, put the lupins that I grew from seed into cardboard boxes ready to go into the little plastic greenhouse.
Went to another show last week, 4 am rise, home at 8 pm, this Saturday it was bliss to lie in till 7 am.
Haven’t seen Mr Ratty, so hope the b******r has snuffed it., but I’ll keep watching.
The weather has been holding beautifully, had two lovely days on the beach with the dogs, the water was calm as a mill pond. Last spring it was quite wild and I did worry a bit about the dogs, have a look at the picture of them in the water, Tango is almost swallowed up by a wave.
Had a bluebottle indoors, horrible things, time they were all dead, Can anyone tell me why is it that the minute you pick up the fly spray, they disappear? I’m sure they’ve got a wierd sort of unnatural intelligence.
